A unique feature of the program is a two-year pharmacy practice or clerkship experience. This enhanced exposure to patients is designed to create a more clinically mature graduate who will be fully prepared to enter pharmacy practice or pursue post-graduate pharmacy residencies, fellowships or graduate work.
The acre campus, shaded by eucalyptus trees and surrounded by San Pablo Bay, is a rare and tranquil site for this growing academic center. The Touro University California College of Pharmacy supports 6 pharmacy residencies situated at various major health care institutions in the Bay Area. All of our residency and programs aim to train and prepare future pharmacist practitioners to be leaders in their field of interest.
In addition to strengthening their clinical skills, applicants selected for these programs will have ample opportunities to further develop their professional, teaching, research and project management skills. Residents and fellows will be trained to be effective preceptors through constant direct interaction with pharmacy students in the classroom and practice setting.
Formal training in research design and statistics is provided. For all of our residency programs, participation in the Research Seminar is required.
This Seminar guides residents through the foundational principles of research, helps them develop and conduct a strong research project and prepares them to deliver the findings at the Western States Conference in May as well as submit a manuscript for publication. Components of the teaching certificate include but are not limited to didactic and experiential teaching to our pharmacy students, participation in clinical case discussions and authoring exam questions.
