Add installer class

I want to add an installer class and then override the commit event and execute my program. I added the installer class but it wouldnt fire my commit event. I dont think its being built right. Is it ok to add an installer class to a program that is already using a setup project and then override say a commit event? The whole point is to get my exe running after the installer finishes on the commit event.
