I've done a bit of research, and the general consensus seemed to be that XP64 was okay for gaming, provided you could get drivers for your hardware. That doesn't appear to be an issue for me, as all the hardware I intend to put in it has appropriate drivers. I was an XP64 user myself back in for a while, and the only problem I encountered was some software incompatibility, but from what I recall that was primarily due to "flags" being set by the developer into the installer when it would actually run fine if you extracted the program files yourself.
Anyone here have any thoughts on the matter? Joined Oct 17, Messages 9, 2. Last edited: Mar 21, It's really not. I can name two games off the top of my head that straight up don't work on Windows 7, and I won't get full use of my Sound Blaster card with it because Microsoft deprecated DirectSound when Vista came out. I already use a VM with XP installed for some games, I just like having something physical to play around with.

Or don't use it as your main OS. Plus Windows XP no longer is being support by Microsoft. You could easily get malware and etc because of it. The point of having it up on the archive is it could still be found. The reason im going to download load this is to have a VM running as i need it. I'll turn it on. Use for whatever i need it for. Then turn it off couple hours later. Setup cannon continue. Any work-around for this? It may not display this or other websites correctly.
You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. XP 32bit or 64bit to best run older PC games. Thread starter Vesqwi Start date May 26, Vesqwi Limp Gawd. Joined Sep 9, Messages Hi there. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit for my everyday uses, but find older games yea I like older games like Dungeon Siege 1 to be laggy which is not because of a hardware weakness i run BF3 pretty well So I though installing XP as a secondary OS might be a good try since most of these games have to be played in "XP compatibility mode" to run on my current windows 7 OS.
So let me know first if im correct or wrong with this. If positive, I'd like to know if I should install a 32 or 64bit version of XP considering that this OS will be used for the sole purpose of playing older games Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A i7 quad core , Geforce m, 8gb ram Compatibility and performance are priority here.

Joined Dec 11, Messages 2, I've tried using the 'XP mode' downloaded from Microsoft and found it severely lacking when it came to performance in games especially older 3D games , but either aforementioned tool should be able to convert the XP mode VHD into its respectable format.
Both tools support DirectX functions up to version 9. If those don't work for you then don't even bother with XP x64 edition, especially if you're installing an OS for the sole purpose of playing older games. It's just not worth the trouble especially if compatibility is one of your top priorities. GushpinBob said:. It was the first version of the NT kernel B purpose towards home users and it ended up being so well adapted and so well-liked that in recent years Microsoft has had to use scare tactics to get people to upgrade.
As far as internet browsing goes in Windows XP 32 Bit ISO, the latest version of internet explorer that it could be updated to is internet explorer 8. If your browser is not supporting youtube, SoundCloud or any other website, then there are some browsing alternatives such as Mozilla Firefox the latest version does completely support Windows XP 64 Bit ISO with no issues. You can also use the latest version of Chrome for fast browsing.
Other browsers are a little more obscure but just as updated like SeaMonkey also have no issues. But you can install and use Microsoft Office without any issue. Even after 13 years of release, Windows XP download has not let down its users. It has still held a lot of features for its fans.
